Dear HUTLC community,
Welcome to the 2024 Harvard Undergraduate Taiwan Leadership Conference! Since its founding in 2007, HUTLC has brought together hundreds of Taiwanese students, Harvard undergraduates, and leaders from across the globe. The conference helps cultivate the next generation of Taiwanese leaders and, just as importantly, changes the lives of the Harvard undergraduates who teach them. Through a week of lectures, homerooms, and extracurricular workshops, HUTLC provides students and teachers a new perspective through which to understand imminent societal issues, challenges that range from managing global pandemics to fighting climate change to addressing the growth of artificial intelligence. Last summer, HUTLC returned for its first fully in-person iteration in almost 4 years. Despite this long hiatus, the conference remained a life-changing experience for students and teachers alike. As Harvard teachers, we were inspired by the resilience and dedication of our students; the diversity of lectures and educational workshops; and, above all, the warmth and kindness of the conference community. And now, as this year’s co-directors, we are thrilled to continue connecting our two communities, and to provide the highest quality conference experience. We are privileged to work alongside the Taiwanese leadership team, and we cannot wait for this year’s conference. We look forward to reading your applications, and we hope to see you at National Taipei University this August! Sincerely, Conner Hill ‘24 and Michelle Doan '25 HTLC Co-Directors 2024 |
